Rich and Creamy Dal Makhani is very popular in North Indian Dish made with black lentils and spices. It can be served with naan or jeera rice or roti.
INSTRUCTIONS:
INSTANT POT DAL MAKHANI RECIPE
INGREDIANTS:
- 1/2 cup black whole urad dal
- 1/4 cup rajma / red kidney beans
- 1/4 cup chana dal
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 cups of chopped onion
- 1/2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 chopped tomato
- salt per taste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala powder
- Water 3 cups
- chopped cilantro
- 2 tbsp cream

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Soak black whole urad dal and kidney beans overnight or 8 hours. Soak chana dal for 30 minutes.
- Next day clean and drain soaked dal.
- Turn on instant pot saute mode, when it is hot, add butter.
- Add cumin seeds.
- Add chopped onion and ginger garlic paste - Saute until onion turns into light brown.
- Add chopped tomato - Saute until tomatoes are soft.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt. Quick stir.
- Add soaked and drained dal (kidney beans, urad dal, chana dal). Add 3 cups of water.
- Close the instant pot lid with sealing position. Cancel saute mode.
- Set Bean/chili mode or High pressure 30 minutes. Cancel when it is done.
- Open the lid after natural pressure release.
- Mash nicely to get a smooth texture, Garnish with cilantro and whipping cream.
- Delicious Dal Makhani is ready, it can be served with rice or roti.
NOTE:
- Here I used Instant Pot 6qt Duo.
- For 3/4 cup dal, you can use upto 3 cups. Adjust water based on the thickness.
