A delicious Moth Beans Curry. Full of flavor and nutrition, Moth Dal can be made in the Instant Pot in just 30 minutes!
They are also called Matki, Nundy, Mat Beans, Turkish Gram or Dew Bean. It is high in protein, it increases energy levels and improves digestion.
- 1 cup moth beans
- 2 tsp oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- curry leaves
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 green chilies
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 cup chopped tomato
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- 3 cups water
- chopped cilantro
- 1 tsp lemon juice

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Soak moth beans for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Turn on instant pot saute mode. Add oil when pot is hot.
- Add cumin seeds, curry leaves - wait until it splutters.
- Add chopped onion, green chilies and ginger garlic paste - saute until onion turns into light brown.
- Add chopped tomato - saute until tomoto gets soft.
- Add soaked and drained dal, and mix.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and salt.
- Add water. 1 cup dal : 3 cups of water
- Close the lid with sealing position.
- Cancel saute mode - set high pressure for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Open the lid after natural pressure release.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro and add lemon juice.
- Delicious one pot moth beans curry is ready to eat with rice or roti.

- Here I used Instant Pot 6 qt DUO.
- This curry can be served with Rice or Roti.
