Instant Pot Oats Kheer | Oats Pudding

Oats Kheer is also called as Oats Payasam or Oats Pudding.  It is delicious and easy to make in instant pot. 


Oats are gluten free whole grains, which are filled with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.  They will help in weight loss and controlling blood sugar.




Oats is healthier than rice, so I prefer Oats kheer instead of Rice kheer.  This rich in taste and creamy as same as rice kheer.  It is the perfect dessert after dinner.


INGREDIENTS:

    • 1 tbsp ghee
    • 1/2 cup rolled oats
    • 1 cup water
    • 1 cup milk
    • 1 to 2 tbsp sugar / brown sugar (adjust to taste)
    • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder (optional)
    • To Garnish: (optional)
    • Almonds sliced
    • Pistachios sliced
    • Raisins

INSTRUCTIONS:

    • Turn on saute mode and add ghee.  
    • Add rolled oats, saute for 2 minutes to get aroma of roasted oats.
    • Add sliced nuts and saute for 30 secs.
    • Add milk, water, sugar, and cardamom powder.  Mix it well.
    • Close the lid with sealing position. 
    • Cancel saute mode, and set 1 minute high pressure.
    • Open the lid after natural pressure release.
    • Mix the kheer.  Add ghee and more nuts if needed.



NOTE:

    • This kheer thickens when it cools.
    • Oats kheer can be served hot or cold.
    • Sugar can be white sugar or brown sugar.
    • Milk can be replaced with coconut milk or almond milk.
