Black beans as part of a healthy weight loss diet can help you lose weight. These are high in fiber and low in fat. They keep you full for long periods of time.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup black beans
- 3 cups of water
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 3 serrano pepper/ green chillies
- 1 chopped tomato
- Curry leaves (optional)
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup cream (optional)
- Cilantro chopped
- Powder:
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 or 2 tsp Red Chilli Pepper Powder
- 2 tsp Corriandar/ Dhaniya Powder
- Tadka/ Tempering:
- 1 or 2 Bay Leaves
- 1 Cloves
- 1 stick Cinnamon
- 1 Cardamom
- 2 Star Anise
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Soak the black beans overnight.
- Turn on instant pot saute mode. When pot is hot, add oil.
- Add bay leaves, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, cumin seeds and curry leaves.
- Add chopped onion, ginger garlic paste and green chillies. Saute until it turns golden brown.
- Add chopped tomato. Saute for a minute.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, corriandar powder and salt - quick stir.
- Add soaked and drained black beans with 3 cups of water.
- Close the instant pot with sealing position. Cancel Saute mode, now set Bean/Chilli mode or high pressure 30 minutes.
- Open the lid after natural pressure release.
- Garnish with cilantro & cream.
